The Gradual Training
The Gradual Training (anupubba-sikkhā) is the Buddha’s step-by-step path to inner freedom—rooted in ethical integrity (sīla), deepened through meditative stillness (samādhi), and crowned by liberating insight (paññā). This curriculum, drawn from the Samaññaphala Sutta (DN 2), traces the unfolding of the contemplative life from the first hearing of the Dhamma to the final release of the mind. Each stage reflects and reinforces the Noble Eightfold Path in practice: right view arises through insight, right intention through renunciation, right speech and action through virtue, right effort and mindfulness through steady cultivation, and right concentration through absorption. In this way, the Gradual Training offers not just a linear progression, but a spiral of deepening integration—illuminating how transformation occurs from the ground up, moment by mindful moment.
Each class will focus on a particular section of Samaññaphala Sutta (DN 2)
